League fixtures for 2010 are out and, sensibly, you will find ours under the section titled 'Fixtures’. Remarkably, the first team begin by playing all three clubs promoted from Division 2 - Bentley, Great Waltham and Rayleigh. This trio won 41 matches between them last year. By way of contrast, our next two fixtures will be against the relegated clubs - Brookweald and Tillingham. Our home game against Tillingham is on July 31. The 2’s begin with an away match against Marconi, who were relegated from Division 7 last year after winning only four games. They play Danbury 2’s, the Division 9 champs last year, at home on June 12 and the batters will be looking forward to July 31, when the tiny ground at Herongate awaits. All Sunday League fixtures have been arranged (by phone) and we don’t have many gaps left for friendlies. Tillingham and Chequers have been booked. South Woodham and Woodham Mortimer (being close to us) remain targets, while, hopefully, the nomadic St Aidan’s will also visit us. Other early dates for your diary - June 13 for Over 40s versus Under 40s and August 8 for our second Beach Cricket Day at Frinton.
