Writtle v Burnham Sports CC 1st XI on Sat 04 Aug 2012 at 1.30pm
Burnham Sports CC Won by 73 runs

Match report Battling Burnham Sports overcame a couple of scares to beat Writtle by 73 runs in their T.Rippon Mid-Essex League Division 1 clash.
Put into bat on a damp pitch, Sports looked in bother at 118 for seven before posting a creditable 169 for eight from their allotted 45 overs.
Then, Writtle raced to 63 for one before collapsing to 96 all out.
Victory moved Sports back up to fourth in the table but, with only four league fixtures left and the top trio boasting a healthy cushion, promotion looks beyond them.
Sports were indebted to Rob Layzell and Tom Silvester for their winning tally.
The eighth wicket pair came together with their team in trouble but added a crucial 39.
Layzell, despite being troubled by a back problem, hit a six and three fours on his way to making 27. Silvester finished unbeaten on 20.
Earlier, Joel Whittaker had made a watchful 23, with Dominic Whittaker, his brother, chipping in with 19.
After tea, big-hitting Dyas threatened to take the game away from Sports in double-quick time.
However, when Robin Whittaker nipped one back and bowled him for 41 in the tenth over, the balance swiftly shifted.
Robin, enjoying his best season, finished with three for 24 from nine fine overs. Joel followed up his bating exploits by taking three for 30, while Ali Allchin bounced back from an indifferent start to claim four for 37.
Meanwhile, Burnham's 2nd XI were suffering agonising last-ball defeat at home to Old Chelmsfordians - a cruel defeat that leaves them bottom of division eight.
Sports were on good terms with themselves after Jalal Ahmed (82), Andy Stephens (40) and Steve Sims (32) had enabled them to post 220 for nine.
Jalal then claimed three for 52, while David May, the Sports captain, scooped five for 58.
However, the visiting team would not lie down and, requiring seven to win off the final two balls, smashed a four and a six to snatch the spoils.
Defeat was particularly harsh on Jalal, who is observing Ramadan. As a consequence, he was unable to drink or eat all day.
This Saturday, the 1st XI plat at home to promotion-chasing Stock, while the 2nd XI travel to Eastwood, who are in contention for the division eight title.
