Match report Meanwhile, Burnham’s 2nd XI were easing their division eight relegation fears with a convincing six-wicket win at home to Broomfield.
Put into bat, Broomfield laboured to 112 all out in 43.1 overs. Andy Stephens, who took three wickets for no runs from his first 11 balls, finished with five for 14. Tom Stephens (10-2-22-2), Roger Perrin (12-7-20-1) and Greg Campion (9-2-28-1) played their part, too, while there was a debut league wicket for 15-year-old Jack Silvester.
Burnham had lost the reverse fixture by ten wickets and, for a time, it seemed like they may give Broomfield a taste of their own medicine.
Opening batsmen Neil Saunders (21), the captain, and Tom Silvester (28) reached 51 with few alarms before perishing. Ashley Wade (13) and Ed King (29 not out) built on their platform with some lofty blows but the winning hit, a firmly hit boundary through wide mid-wicket, was provided by Jack Silvester.
