Match report Something of a historic day with neither Finny or Stevo featuring in a 1st XI fixture. Not too many occasions in the past 30 years where that has happened.
Who needs these old farts, any way?
By all accounts, this win over Premier League opponents was achieved with something to spare and sets us up nicely for the league campaign ahead.
It featured the long-awaited return of Chief who, bar a bat, had no clothes or equipment. He remedied this with a trip to Warsop in the morning and, unless my sources are wrong, spent somewhere between £300 and £400 on new equipment. He must have looked splendid - like one of those models you see on the front of glossy catalogues.
Such an outlay deserved a reward, you'd have thought, but poor old Rob, having spent the past three years in Canada, perished second ball; chipping one to mid on. More alarmingly, perhaps, he had defended his first ball. When did he ever do that?
Rogger, Smudger and the Bear took the batting honours and we'd have posted far more than 194 were it not for the exploits of Chalk.
In reply, they were 10 for three after four overs and struggling from then on.
The Bear opened the door and everyone bar Fuad ended up getting a wicket or three.
Chunder finished things off and has begun the season by taking six for 46 against top-flight rivals.
Perhaps there is still room for an old boy or two.
