Burnham seconds beat Gt Burstead by 7 Wkts

I believe this was one of the quickest matches I've ever played in with both innings lasting a total of 41 overs.
Burstead won the toss and decided to bat and soon came evident that on a pacy pitch and both T Stephens 2-17 and R Perrin 4-40 bowling well this was a mistake.
With Tom producing some sharp late inswing, removing one batsman hitting his off stump as he left the ball and another caught at midwicket by S Sims, (that's 3 catches for the season !!)along with Roger Perrin's gentle away swing, forcing Patel (20) one of only 2 Burstead batsmen to reach double figures, edging a catch to Campion at slip and his other 3 victems being bowled that left Burstead at a perilous 67-6.
Then David Bridge 4-15 took over from Tom and bowing straight removed the dangerous Foster (22) and cleaned up the tail all bowled leaving Burnham 79 and 65 overs to do it in.
Burnham easily reached the target within 18 overs with N Saunders 19, E King 26 and D Bridge 18no being the main contributers.
Burnham entertain second place Rettendon at home next week and look forward to keep the pressure up on the other teams chasing promotion in this tight league.
