Match report Jalal Ahmed made a welcome return to action as Burnham Sports resumed winning ways with a comfortable six-wicket win over Ingatestone at Millfield.
The all-rounder, the eldest of four Ahmed brothers to have represented Sports over the years, was having his first match since last summer but looked anything but rusty when his turn came to bat as his team chased down a target of 174.
He begun with three pulled boundaries and then added a flat six over mid-wicket on his way to an unbeaten 27.
His innings was the icing on the cake for Sports, who bounced back from successive disappointing defeats by securing victory with 15 overs to spare.
Grant Smith (40), Jamie Hamilton (24) and Joel Whittaker (19) also played some entertaining shots, while the imposing Ali Allchin ended undefeated on 38. He hit two sixes and shared in an unbroken stand of 61 with Jalal.
Earlier, Ingatestone had been restricted to 173 for eight after being put bat on a blustery day that feaured several unwelcome showers.
Robin Whittaker (9-3-25-2) was again the pick of the Sports attack, with Karl Barnes (two for 39) and Hamilton (three for 35) backing him up.
