Match report Burnham Sports paid the price for a reckless batting display as they suffered a six-wicket defeat at the hands of Little Waltham.
Sports were bundled out for 123 after being put in and their humiliation was completed when Waltham required less than 17 overs to get past that inadequate tally.
A premature finish had seemed unlikely as Burnham, put into bat, eased to 52 for one in the fourteenth over.
But then Joel Whittaker (16) and Grant Smith (29) departed in rapid succession and the home side never truly recovered.
Ali Allchin's fluent 44, which included two big sixes, enabled them to reach 114 for five, but none of his team-mates could muster double figures as seamers Farooq (four for 24) and Williams (four for 57) dominated.
Nine Burnham players were out caught, the majority attempting attacking shots. It was most disappointing given their polished batting exploits against Tillingham just a week earlier.
Waltham had 57 overs to bat but seemed determined to blast their way to victory.
Their cavalier approach looked like it might backfire as they stumbled to 49 for four but the fifth-wicket pair of Phil Baxter (53 not out) and Pat Howeson (25 not out) had other ideas.
They thumped 74 off the next 45 balls, combining to hit two sixes and 13 fours. They won the game with a single - only their seventh of an all-action innings.
Andy Stephens finished with two for 30 off seven overs, while wicket-keeper Dominic Whittaker took a brilliant legside catch off Allchin. But, in truth, bemused Sports had precious little to cheer.
