Match report Below-par Burnham Sports suffered their second successive reverse as they lost by three wickets at home to Brookweald.
Sports struggled to come to terms with a dry pitch that made batting a challenge and then, as a unit, bowled poorly - the opposition reaching 60 after just a dozen overs and always holding the upper hand from then on.
Jamie Hamilton, the Sports captain, retained his 100 per cent record with the toss and was content with himself as, having chosen to bat, his team reached 100 for three in the 24th over.
However, from that base they crumbled to 160 all out - giving Brookweald an extra five overs to make the tally required.
Ali Allchin (43), who hit two sixes and five fours, topscored for Sports before being a victim of low bounce. Hamilton (22) also perished to a ball that died on him but Joel Whittaker (28) and Andy Stephens (24) had no excuses for their exits.
Paul Green was the only other to make double figures and Sports succumbed, in the main, to slow bowler Rawling (four for 39).
Brookweald got off to a brisk start in reply and, despite Allchin removing the openers, looked set for a comfortable win as they progresed to 114 for three with bags of time left.
Stephens (three for 31 from 12 overs) kept Burnham in wih an outside chance but his dismissal of Bradley (59) came a bit too late.
Fuad Ahmed, promoted to the 1st XI, bowled a fine six-over spell, while Hamilton also bowled tidily. Each took a wicket but it was not enough to prevent the away team belatedly getting off the mark for the season.
