Match report The 1st XI were again below strength for their home fixture with Ekco Monarchs and paid the price - losing by 79 runs.
Burnham held the upper hand after restricting Ekco to only 112 from their first 33 overs. But the visiting team went on the rampage in the last dozen overs and plundered another 123 to finish with a testing 235 for six.
Kevin Grant, the visiting team’s prolific opening batsman, was their inspiration and finished undefeated on 134. Ali Allchin (three for 57) and Andy Stephens (12-3-32-0) were the pick of the Burnham bowlers.
In reply, Sports reached 87 for two midway through their innings before subsiding to 156 all out. Once Paul Green (42) and Jamie Hamilton (44) had departed, resistance was minimal - Allchin (18) being the only other batsman to manage double figures.
