Broomfield v Burnham Sports CC 1st XI on Sat 18 Jul 2009 at 1.30
Burnham Sports CC Won By 10 Wickets

Match report Burnham Sports enjoyed a weekend to savour with all three of their teams being successful.
The 1st XI kept up their T.Rippon Mid-Essex League first division promotion hopes with a resounding ten-wicket win away to struggling Broomfield.
Put into bat on what was initially a damp pitch, Broomfield subsided to 148 all out. Andy Stephens removed the home team’s opening batsmen before Robin Whittaker dismissed the dangerous Mishra (36). Once he had departed, the home team lacked direction and struggled to cope with the off-spin of Jamie Hamilton, who finished with four for 26.
The pitch had dried out markedly by the time Burnham got to the crease and the opening pair of Paul Green and Grant Smith took full advantage.
Neither offered a chance as they accumulated the winning runs with more than 15 overs to spare. Green ended unbeaten on 76, his innings being punctuated by a dozen boundaries. Smith struck some crisp drives on his way to 60, a knock that included nine fours.
Between them, Green and Smith have rattled up 776 runs this term with six league games still left to play.
Burnham’s 2nd XI have lacked prolific batsmen this term but that has not prevented them winning five of their past seven fixtures in division eight.
Mike Forshaw’s men gained their latest victory at the expense of their Broomfield counterparts by 13 runs.
Put into bat, Sports reached 156 for seven from their allotted 45 overs - the patient early efforts of Ed King and Neil Saunders (both 34) being built on by Ashley Wade (27), Dave Gamble (20) and Roger Perrin (13). Wade hit five boundaries, while Gamble’s flurry included a massive six.
Perrin (12-3-30-2), Fuad Ahmed (10-7-16-2) and Wade (7-1-27-2) heaped further pressure on Broomfield before Tom Stephens (8-1-25-1) removed the leg stump of the dangerous Thorn (47).
The visiting team ended up being restricted to143 for nine. A jubilant Forshaw said: “The recent performances from young and experienced players bodes very well for next season.”
On Sunday, Burnham had a Warsop third division match away to Rayleigh-based South Fambridge and recorded a 92-run win.
Batting first, Sports rattled up 256 for five, with Dominic Whittaker (retired on 100) and his younger brother Robin (61) excelling. Dominic has now made 288 runs on a Sunday and been out only once.
There was still time for Shalab Aggarwal to compile 39 not out.
South Fambridge were all out for 164 despite an unbeaten century by Nobes. Sayeid Ahmed and (three for 13) and Ali Allchin (three for 42) shared the bowling honours.
