Match report Resurgent Burnham Sports enjoyed a weekend to cherish with all of their teams achieving convincing wins.
Jamie Hamilton led from the front as Burnham’s 1st XI thumped in-form Great Totham by 107 runs in their Mid-Essex League first division clash at Millfield.
Skipper Hamilton hit a match-winning 70 not out as his team, put into bat on a damp surface, compiled 192 for five from their allotted 45 overs. That score was worth plenty more given that conditions were tilted heavily in favour of the bowlers.
Hamilton dominated a fifth-wicket stand of 70 with Jalal Ahmed (15) after the top trio of Grant Smith (22), Paul Green (20) and Joel Whittaker (35) had provided a platform.
Totham were chasing a sixth successive win but, in reply, had no answer to the combined efforts of Robin Whittaker (four for 20), Ali Allchin (two for 15), Karl Barnes (two for 20) or Andy Stephens (one for 20). Neil Saunders also contributed a sharp run out as the visiting team were bundled out for 85.
