Perrin's brilliant half century can't save 2s from defeat.

27 Jul 2015

Burnham’s Second XI suffered a heavy 6-wicket loss at the hands of local rivals Tillingham in their Division 9 fixture, played at Bradwell. Sports arrived missing a number of regular starters, including batsman Ed King who has been scoring runs freely for Burnham this season. Sports batted first and were bowled out for 99. A highlight of the game was Roger Perrin’s innings; he reached a career-high score of 51 before being adjudged out LBW. L Barrell was the pick of Tillingham’s bowlers, as he got a five-wicket haul. In reply, Tillingham rattled off the total easily for the loss of only four wickets, with Jimmy Chapman’s 49 the top score for the home side. Perrin, who was Burnham’s outstanding player on the day, took two wickets, one of which was a superb caught and bowled to claim Tillingham captain Glenn Hylton. The team have had a solid season, and are currently placed in 4th position in Division 9. Next week, the team are playing at home to Hornchurch Athletic.
