Dear Secretary

I have the results of the recent survey. Of 57 clubs in the League 53 replied. The Committee were disappointed that despite numerous reminders 4 clubs chose not to participate. The results and conclusion from the Committee were

1.REDUCE TO 40 OVERS- 26 clubs were in favour and 26 against with 2 having no preference. Of the 26 in favour 19 suggested it should only happen in the lower divisions

2. EARLIER STARTS-  34 clubs were in favour and 18 against with 2 having no preference. The preferred starting time of those in favour was 1pm

3. REDUCE OVERS PER BOWLER- 26 clubs were in favour and 26 against with 2 having no preference. Of the clubs in favour 10 per bowler in a 45 over game was the preference

4. REGIONALISATION- 18 clubs were in favour with 30 against and 9 had no preference. The Committee felt that any proposal to regionalise the League is a possibility in the future but based on these figures and the lack of support at last years AGM it would be highly unlikely any proposal would receive the necessary support from member clubs. There is nothing to stop any club making a proposal for this years AGM BEFORE October 1st

5. SCRAP TRANSFERED OVERS-  25 clubs were in favour and 28 against. The reason for  this survey was to encourage people to play cricket and not to lose people to the game. The Committee were not convinced scraping this rule would make any difference to that and decided not to propose a rule change, but as above any club can make a proposal.

The figures given by you the clubs suggest there are around 3000 people playing in our league and around 1500 took part in this survey. The people who vote on changes to the League are you the clubs and any club may propose any Rule change. As a result of this survey the Committee will make the following proposals

1.Division 7 downwards to be reduced to 40 overs. If this is voted against then

2. Division 9 downwards to be reduced to 40 overs

3. 1pm start all season

4. In a 45 over match no bowler may bowl more than 10 overs

5. In a 40 over match no bowler may bowl more than 9 overs

As i stated earlier if any club wishes to put forward any rule change then it must be with me by 1st October as stated in Constitution 9b.

The AGM will take place on Thursday November 13th. I will e mail you last years minutes and post everything else within the next 3 weeks. We have 3 teams who have re applied to join the League in Hatfield Peverel 2s, Stock 3s and Billericay St Johns 2. We have held meetings with these clubs and at the AGM we as a Committee will let you know if we feel these teams are in a position to fulfil a full fixture list. There have been no new clubs apply.  Having lost Chignal 1s and Herongate 2s not re-applying it will mean we will be at least 2 teams short in the lower divisions for 2015

                                 Yours Sincerely

                                  Stuart Pinkerton
