Patched up Seconds Triumph

With the team struggling to find 11 players the late inclusion of Tom and Jack Silvester (Jack with broken right hand fingers)and Callum Perrin boosted the team to 11 players.
On a perfect summers day and one of the nicest grounds the seconds will visit this year Burnham won the toss and naturally elected to bat to avoid fielding in the early afternoon sun.
Despite losing Tom early after battering a couple of 4's Neil Wade (73) for the first time this year beautifully anchored down the innings, with superb patience and careful shot selection and almost batted through the entire innings only to sacrifice his wicket in the last but one over in the chase for runs, this enabled the rest of the team to bat around him, notable contributions from C Rich (16), T Lornie (17) and some lusty hitting from R Perrin (26 no)and a helpful 41 from extras meant that Burnham had a challenging 197 from 45 overs even though it was a good pitch.

In reply Hanningfield & Gt Bursted started of very steady but tight bowling from R Perrin 12-3-44-0 and B Leech 10-2-39-0 kept Hanningfield in check and after 32 overs had 102 on the board without loss, this was due to deamon like fielding of Tom Silvester amd Tim Lornie at least 20 runs saved between the pair or them,  Dave Kitching fielded every ball cleanly at cow corner cannot remember a single 4 past him and his accurate throwing enabled one run out then a special mention to Callum and Jack Silvester (only fielding with his left hand) both fielding at 3rd man and fine leg respectively made notable saves, with G Campion 12-0-46-2 and Tom Silvester 11-3-45-1 keeping the brakes on always made sure that E.H & Gt B were always behind the rate and closed their innings 11 runs short of Burnham's target.
Next week the Seconds entertain Terling II at home
