Burnham Sports CC Lost By 6 Wickets

Match report This week Burnham’s Second XI made the short trip to local rivals Tillingham in their Division 8 clash.
Tillingham won the toss and put Burnham in to bat. Sports were without the in-form Ed King on Saturday, but Jack Shipton’s aggressive 96 not out ensured that Sports did not suffer in the batting department. Captain Shipton, who has fallen agonisingly short of a maiden century in his last two fixtures, carried the bat and finished four short of the landmark hundred. Mike Jenkins (32) and Chris Rich (29) both helped Shipton in his efforts, and Sports finished with a competitive score of 222 for four after 45 overs.
In reply, Tillingham made a solid start with Akers (55) and Ashworth (33). Roger Perrin bowled very well during his 10 overs, getting two wickets for only 14 runs. He was supported by Chris Rich and Emma Honey, who got a wicket each. D. Smith made a determined 83 not out and Tillingham managed to reach 225 by the 40th over and won by 6 wickets.
