Match report Seconds battle in vain against Danbury

In a sprited performance the Seconds lose by 4 wkts

Burnham batted first and with Paul Green playing in the Seconds from the Firsts gave the seconds a much stronger batting line up and proved vital as he scored a much needed (50) on a lively pitch with some inconsistence bounce, but yet again other than Paul 3 of the top 4 failed to trouble the scorers until Ashley Wade arrived, really concentrating played a clean hitting innings of (57) supported by C Rich (18)made a partnership of 60 for the 5 the wicket after Paul had dismissed. But when Ashley had departed only G Campion (10no)had managed to get into double figures out of the last 5 batsmen but the team had amassed a respectful 161.

Danbury's reply was steady with T Rogers and S Moore (84no) sharing an opening stand of 51 and with the older ball and the pitch playing easier it looked like plain sailing, until a burst of 3 wicket for 6 runs by T Stephens 2-36,G Rice 1-39 and D May 1-22 bought Burnham back into the game and despite a couple of more wickts from G Campion and P Green Burnham were unable to dismiss S Moore and his 84 proved the difference between the 2 teams and had knocked the runs off in the 41st over.

Another 20 to 30 runs and the match result would have been different but that would seem to be the story of the seconds season so far.
