2nds lose out again in another tight Match

Burnham lost the toss and was inserted bt EH & GT

The pitch looked dry but good, but as we found out not easy to bat on and after losing two quick wickets in the first 4 overs, it was a real grind for N Saunders (61) and D May (18) as they struggled to survive some very accurate bowling from Patel 12-5-11-1 and Abed 12-3-32-1 and after 19 overs Burnham had only progressed to 20 on the board.
With the side batting severly curtailed by late drop outs Neil and David knew they were the last batsmen and posted the first 50 partnership of the season and with the help of J Silvester (15) Burnham crept to 128 for 6 in their 45 overs.

EH & GB reply was equally slow as the Burnham bowlers stepped up to the mark. Initally T Stephens 7.5-1-35-0 and R Perrin 12-6-21-2 kept things quiet as they progressed to 37 -1 off 12, it was then the combination of R Perrin and G Campion 12-3-24-3 that really put on the brakes as over the next 20 overs EH&GB only put on 43 runs for the loss of 3 wkts, we had some hope then as Burnham were at a similar stage in their innings, but they had better depth in batting and despite the efforts of D May 9-0-35-1 they made the Burnham total with 13 balls to spare.

We shouldn't be downhearted on any other day the results of the past 2 weeks could have easily gone our way so the 2nds take on Broomfield next week.
