Burnham Sports CC Lost By 160 Runs

Match report Sports put up their worst performance of the season away to Southend-based Ekco Monarchs last Saturday and suffered a humiliating defeat by 160 runs.
Ekco were put into bat but dominated from the outset, with openers McGregor (79) and Grant (40) helping them to 107 for one after 20 overs.
The home side only took 20 from the next ten overs but then accelerated again through James, who thumped an unbeaten 86 after a sticky start. David Bridge (10-3-32-1) and Joel Whittaker (7-2-32-1) were the pick of the Burnham bowlers but could not prevent Ekco closing on 249 for six.
In reply, Burnham reached 69 for three in the 16th over but then capitulated to 89 all out. Walsh (11-1-49-6) was their main tormentor, although Hunt (3-13) also indulged himself.
Whittaker (30) was the top scorer for Sports but was undone, like several of his team-mates, by a ball that popped.
